fetra Fechtel transport equipment commissioned by viastore
So that the mover moves even more
Since 1954, fetra Fechtel Transportgeräte GmbH in Borgholzhausen/North Rhine-Westphalia has been producing hand-guided transport equipment that is used in offices, production facilities and workshops around the world. The company has now launched a comprehensive construction project to expand its production and logistics facilities. A state-of-the-art automated warehouse and a new dispatch hall will be built as part of this project. Intralogistics specialist viastore is supplying a two-aisle pallet warehouse with storage and retrieval machines, conveyor technology and the viadat WMS for the project.
Everyone has actually seen or used fetra equipment - in the office for transporting files and boxes, in production for transporting containers and everything that needs to be moved ergonomically from A to B, or in the workshop for moving entire sets of tires - in short: fetra moves. The company has now decided to further expand its site in Borgholzhausen.
The production areas will be significantly expanded in the future. In addition to a new 9,252 square meter production and storage hall for the powder coating, assembly and order picking departments, a 1,680 square meter dispatch hall with 13 ramp gates and a ground-level gate is being built. It is equipped with conveyor belts for parcel shipping, which are directly connected to the picking stations. It made sense to rethink all intralogistics processes during the expansion, with which fetra intends to significantly increase its efficiency and capacity, and to better position itself for the future with an optimal system solution. fetra found the necessary expertise at viastore.
Clever storage technology organized by viadat
Following comprehensive consultation and precise planning, the international intralogistics specialist based in Stuttgart is supplying a 1,295 square meter and 21 meter high automated pallet warehouse (APL) in silo design with 4,136 pallet spaces.
Storage and retrieval in the two-aisle, double-deep system, each 60 meters long, is handled by two viapal storage and retrieval machines. The viaconvey parcel and pallet conveyor technology transports the pallets between the warehouse and the pick-up/drop-off stations, thus ensuring a seamless connection from goods receipt via central production points to parcel and pallet dispatch. For seamless automation of the loading process in the trailer, viastore integrates telescopic belt conveyors. viastore is implementing its intuitive viadat warehouse management system (WMS) to control the entire system and efficiently manage the storage, transportation and picking processes.
In future, production is to be supplied with an automated guided vehicle system (AGV). In addition, fetra can extend the warehouse by two aisles if required. The building and warehouse technology have been designed accordingly.
Construction began in May 2024 and the buildings are due to be completed in spring 2025. The go-live of the intralogistics system is scheduled for fall 2025.
